With it’s red rock formations and deep blue skies, the photography options are endless. This trail offers decent vista views but the arch is nothing to get excited about. The trail traverses rolling terrain, gentle slopes, all through stage and canyons, and as the name suggest, it leads to a beautiful panorama view of the park. The path is basjn wide and well-worn that it could almost be classified as wheelchair-accessible—were it not for the ubiquitous sand that would make wheeling a tough slog.

Beyond, the Grey Cliffs tower feet over the basin. We found the same thing with very few people anywhere in the park.
So happy you got to complete the trail. This area is labeled Hat Shop, but I would only see one rock that could resemble a hat. We also visited the Willis Creek Trail on the way back, and this was an interesting hike along the river into slot canyons.
Panorama Trail (Kodachrome Basin State Park, UT) | Live and Let Hike
We visited as a side trip from Bryce Canyon. Cryptobiotic soil below Mammoth Geyser. Views from the Panorama Trail, above the weathered badlands. Great views of all different rock formations and very few people in the park. Aptly named, the overlook offers vistas in all directions, with only a small sliver of the horizon blocked by another hillside to the south.
To see the arch, and not take the trail, take kodwchrome right at the trailhead, and walk in about. Sixty-seven monolithic stone spires called sedimentary pipes accentuate multi-hued sandstone layers revealing million years of geologic time.
To hike the entire trail like we didkeep following the trail around the back side of the arch to see other alcoves, rock formations and the wide, expansive desert. Valley to the north. We hike this on April 26 and saw maybe 6 other people the whole way. Home Parks Hotels Plants.

The trail was nice. Easy trail but I’d imagine it would be rather hot during the summer. The path climbs about feet up the latter; a sign dismantled when I was there marks that you have reached Panorama Point.

Great views everywhere you look. Fun little trail that gives you the option of exploring a few box canyons. The trail follows the etate sandstone cliffs for a half-mile, passing a number of tempting side canyons along the way.
We would definitely do it again but by ma next time. I loved this hike!

Glad you got some good photos of the park. Chilly Cool Cave offers brief but welcome solace on a hot summer day. Similar to Garden of the Gods in CO. Turn left at the trail kodacrome. There are kodachroms of trees for some shade as well. Hiking to Shakespeare Arch is fun but the hiking afterward was my favorite part. It’s kind of nice that people don’t know about Kodachrome or Red Canyon.
In the distance off to the west, notice the thin white-to-pink line of cliffs; this is Bryce Canyon National Park. The views were phenomenal. Loved the red stone colors against the lush trees in the basin, spectacular contrast.
